Recently, I called the Tehran Prosecutor\u2019s Office to follow up a letter I had written to the Prosecutor, asking for personal meetings with my husband. You may know that I need the Prosecutor\u2019s permission to meet Bahman for twenty minutes, after such a long time.<\/p>\n
Twice so far I have visited the Tehran Prosecutor\u2019s Office, in downtown Tehran and very far away from our house, and have filled the application form for personal meeting. But I\u2019ve heard nothing from them. <\/p>\n
Here, I don\u2019t want to discuss the point that my husband and I have the legal right to meet each other and the Prosecutor has repeatedly announced that face-to-face meetings are being held. All I\u2019d like to do is to share with you the details of a phone conversation I had with an official at the Prosecutor\u2019s Office, without any comments.<\/p>\n
\u2022\tHello? Tehran Prosecutor\u2019s Office?<\/p>\n
\u2022\tWad d’you wan’? <\/p>\n
\u2022\tExcuse me, but have I dialed the right number? Is that the Prosecutor\u2019s Office?<\/p>\n
\u2022\tI said wad d’you wan’?<\/p>\n
\u2022\tExcuse me, I\u2019d like to find out the reply to my letter about having face-to-face meetings with my husband.<\/p>\n
\u2022\tWhy did you ask if this was the Prosecutor\u2019s Office, instead of asking your question?<\/p>\n
\u2022\tWell, how could I know if this was or was not the Prosecutor\u2019s Office? I apologize. But what is the reply to my letter, anyway?<\/p>\n
\u2022\tIt was rejected.<\/p>\n
\u2022\tHow do you know it was rejected? You did not even ask me for the prisoner\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
\u2022\tWell, tell me now. What\u2019s his name?<\/p>\n
\u2022\tBahman Ahmadi-Amlouee.<\/p>\n
\u2022\tIt\u2019s been rejected. <\/p>\n
\u2022\tDo you have a letter saying this?<\/p>\n
\u2022\tHey, lady, I don\u2019t have time for this.<\/p>\n
\u2022\tAnd he put the phone down.<\/p>\n
Those were the days. Until a few months ago, there was lady called Bordbar (meaning \u2018patient\u2019 in Persian) at the Tehran Prosecutor\u2019s Office who would take our phone calls. As she herself would put it, even if there was nothing she could do for us, at least she could answer the phone calls from the prisoners\u2019 families in a good tone and with good humor. Those were the days!<\/p>\n
